NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - An NYPD detective has been suspended without pay after a kidnapping victim was found inside the officer’s garage.
Police said that they traced a ransom call to a home in Springfield Gardens, Queens. When officers showed up on Saturday, 17-year veteran Ondre Johnson came out the front door.
Although he was not charged, four other people — including a relative of the officer — were arrested.
Police said that the victim was grabbed off of the street and was being held for $75,000 dollars.
The NYPD’s Internal Affairs Bureau is investigating.
